CLARK VS LEX: ROSENBAUM RETURNS FOR SERIES FINALE

By: Kryptonian Detective

Despite constant refusal by Michael Rosenbaum regarding a return as Lex Luthor on Smallville for the series finale, a deal has been struck that will see Rosenbaum return as the hair impared foe for one last time.  This return was put even more in doubt when EW ran a story suggesting that the former series regular had refused offers of a return.  However, shortly after the episode titled “Beacon” aired, it was officially announced that Michael Rosenbaum would indeed appear as Lex Luthor in the series finale.  Regarding his return the actor stated; ““I’m delighted to return for the series finale. “I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness, and even their threats. Ha ha.”  As fans of the show are aware, Lex’s young clone Alexander has been aging at an accelerated rate and has all of his creators memories.  However, in “Beacon” the younger Lex is loosing his memories, but he has evidentially gained what appears to be invulnerability.  Both circumstances make for a potential great stand off between Lex and Clark.  The producers of the show had this to say; ““It feels like the stars are aligning, literally. We couldn’t be more excited. And as far as the way he returns… there’ll be no doubt about how Lex becomes the great rival in Clark Kent’s life. He is the villain of the story.”  Hopefully, this means that the finale will bring the show full circle.  Fans will witness what we’ve been promised for years, watching the friendship turn into the most famous rivalry of all.  Superman vs. Lex Luthor. It would be an epic end to the series, and a finale that would be worthy of beginning Superman’s never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way. (Source: TVLine)
