“The Amazing Spider – Man” continued its strong performance on opening day by adding another $62,004,668 this past weekend. Added together with its weekday earnings the film has made $137,022,258. While these opening numbers aren’t as huge as the previous Spider – Man franchise, this seems to be par for the course with rebooted superhero franchises. “Batman Begins” and “X-Men: First Class” weren’t able to match the financial successes of their franchise starting predecessors. However, “The Amazing Spider -Man” managed to outpace both those franchise re-starts over a weekend and its first six days of release.
Overseas numbers have been plentiful for Andrew Garfield’s version of Peter Parker. The film already had cash on hand from its early debut last weekend, but expansion into most but not all markets, saw its foreign totals add another $129.1 Million to its cause. The film has amassed a foreign gross of 201,600,000. Worldwide, “The Amazing Spider – Man has already taken in a worldwide total of 338,622,258.
