Gal Gadot Cast As Wonder Woman In Batman Vs Superman!

By: Adam Basciano

Gal Gadot 3

Almost a month ago, three actresses were revealed to be testing for a female role in the film.  Looking at the candidates, rumors intensified that the role may indeed be Wonder Woman. Today, Warner Brothers and Zack Snyder confirmed that “Fast & The Furious” star Gal Gadot has won the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman! Director Zack Snyder said this about the character and casting choice; ” Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”  As for the newly minted Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot took to twitter to express the following; “Wonder Woman! So exciting!!! Can’t express how happy I am :))))”

Wonder Woman - Michael Turner

Now here’s the part of the article where I go off on the crazy “basement dwellers.” Ready? Too bad! Here it comes!  Already, I’ve heard the complaint “She’s to skinny. Wonder Woman is an Amazon!”  Yes Wonder Woman is an Amazon, yet I don’t see most comic books drawing her to look like Chyna from the WWE, or a female body builder.  Let alone, TV’s Wonder Woman, wasn’t all that physically imposing either.  On to Gal Gadot herself.  There are these great places across the world known as gym’s, sometimes called fitness centers.  At these places people go and use weight to add muscle mass to their bodies.  Actors and actresses do this too! Case, in point Antje Traue for “Man of Steel.” I’m sure Gal will be put through her paces.  Then comes the “She can’t carry her own franchise” comment. My response….How the hell do we know? She’s never been given a chance. Who knew Christian Bale could carry a tentpole superhero franchise prior to “The Dark Knight Trilogy?” No one, and if you’re saying you did, you’re a hypocrite!

Trinity - Jim Lee

Sure she’s a relative unknown aside for her role in the “Fast & the Furious” franchise, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  At this point, I have enough faith in Zack Snyder’s casting choices throughout all of his comic book films to give him the benefit of the doubt. I’m excited that in some way, the Queen of Female superheroes is finally making her big screen debut alongside her brethren in the DC Comics “Trinity”
