Fox’s Batman television prequel “GOTHAM” is currently filming ,and set photo’s have found there way online. First up is a look at Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon. There are already complaints that he doesn’t have his trademark mustache, or glasses. Some fans will see this as sacrilege, but I don’t. He’s not the only live action version to be sans mustache. Actor Neil Hamilton, who played the character in the 1966 television series, also had no mustache or glasses. One thing is certain, Ben McKenzie’s version of the character will be a more functional and contributing member of the GCPD then Pat Hingle’s version was in the Burton/Schumacher films. Another image sees Gordon with the first live action depiction of Harvey Bullock as played by actor Donal Logue.
We also get our first look at Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. The Penguin. I like his look. Again, some fans are crying fowl because this version of the character isn’t extremely short, fat, and doesn’t appear to waddle. One need look no further then the graphic novel “Batman: Earth One”, to see that the version we expect isn’t always the way it’s done.
