Marvel Studio’s released the second trailer for their next upcoming film “Guardians of the Galaxy.” This is the studio’s riskiest venture since 2008 when they formed their own studio, and made the first “Iron-Man” film. This is more so though, as the general move going public has zero recognition as to who Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Racoon are. I’ll go one step further, they aren’t even well known amongst many comic book purists. The first trailer, while it was very well received by most, I wasn’t completely sold. I thought the comedy felt forced, and somewhat immature at times. Especially, the Star Lord middle finger gag. I also felt the first trailer lacked the expansiveness of its setting. The scope of the film just didn’t feel grand enough. Thankfully, the second trailer corrected all of these issues I had. The comedic moments felt natural, each character got an extended moment to shine. The trailer at times, felt like a nice blend of “Star Trek”, “Star Wars”, and “Firefly” all rolled into one. The special effects looked really solid. They’re really starting to sell me on the believability of a talking racoon and talking Tree in a live action movie. This trailer totally reversed my opinion on the film and my excitement for it. So much so, that I’ve started reading the current Guardians of the Galaxy comic book by Brian Michael Bendis. Check out the trailer….
