Not long ago, we learned that Charlie Cox would star as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Marvel/Netflix 13 episode live action “Daredevil” series. With our hero in place, his main antagonist is needed. Fans of the comic book know that the Man Without Fear’s main nemesis is Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of crime. Today, Marvel announced that veteran actor Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) has been cast in the role. ” “We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ in such an integral role,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero.” Not only does D’Onofrio have acting talent in droves, he’s appropriately physically imposing. He stands at 6’4 and hails from New York. Can the casting get any more perfect!? For those unfamiliar with the character, he is described as follows; “a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.” With the two actors announced, and the creative team behind the series, I have no doubt the devil will be given his due.
