This past weekend at San Diego Comic Con, two pieces of big news regarding Season 3 of “Arrow” became known. One nugget of information is that DC Comics character Ted Grant, known as Wildcat, will be joining the show as in a recurring role. In the comics, Ted Grant is a retired boxer, founding member of DC’s original superhero team, the Justice Society of America, and trainer to several other heroes. This includes Black Canary. “In Arrow, Grant will be a former boxer who now runs a gym for underprivileged youth. A man with a mysterious past, he will play a pivotal role in Laurel Lance’s arc this season.” This makes total sense as I believe that Sara Lance’s tenure as the Black Canary is temporary, and the mantle will be taken up by Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy. This transition will sync the television series, with its comic book counter part. For that transition to happen though, Laurel will need to learn to handle herself in a fight. Enter Wildcat, to be brought to life by actor J.R. Ramirez.
In addition to a new hero, Season 3 will feature the arrival of a new foe, in the form of Ra’s al Ghul. Ra’s al Ghul’s only live action appearances have occurred in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Trilogy.” However, those who’ve watched Season 2 know that the character has been hinted at and referenced several times. The League of Assassins, and even one of Ra’s al Ghul’s daughters makes several appearances. No actor has been announced for the role, but here’s a trailer teasing Season 3 & Ra’s al Ghul…
