“Supergirl” To Take Flight On Television!

While the DC Cinematic Universe is just getting underway, the companies television ventures are thriving.  “Arrow” is going into it’s third season, and this fall will be joined by “The Flash”, “Gotham”, and “Constantine.”  Apparently, DC Entertainment wants to add another hero to that growing list. “On the heels of the success of Arrow and the strong buzz for its upcoming offshoot The Flash — both co-created and executive produced by Greg Berlanti — the top producer is looking to transition another popular DC superhero character to the small screen. I’ve learned that Berlanti has teamed with Ali Adler, who worked on his ABC series No Ordinary Family, for a TV series based on Supergirl. Warner Bros. TV, which is behind all DC TV series, will produce with Berlanti’s studio-based Berlanti Prod. Geoff Johns is involved ins some capacity, and the series is being shopped around much like “Gotham” was.  The fact that this is being shopped around, means it probably won’t be on The CW.  I can only think of two reasons why, the tone of “Supergirl” doesn’t fit with “Arrow” & “The Flash.” The other reason being that The CW already had a Superman related TV series with “Smallville,” and doesn’t want to tread the same waters again.  Speaking of Superman, how will this potential series handle the issue of Superman, and the probable lack of appearance of said character? Who will play Supergirl? All these questions will be answered as the show progresses through development. However, it’s time for another female led superhero television series, and I’m glad the Girl of Steel is getting her time to shine.
