“Suicide Squad” begins pre-production in February, and will film right here in Toronto starting in April. Along with that bit of news, Warner Brothers has confirmed the cast and characters appearing in the film. Jared Leto will in fact play the greatest villain in comic book lore, The Joker. The beautiful and talented Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn, a psychopath in her own right, and the Joker’s sometime girlfriend.
Will Smith will join them as lesser know Batman villain, but expert marksman Deadshot. Tom Hardy who played Batman villain Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” will remain in the DC Universe, this time playing the group’s leader Rick Flagg. Actor Jai Courtney who will next be seen in “Terminanator: Genysis” will play Flash villain Captain Boomerang, while Cara Delevigne will play Enchantress.
Warner Brothers released this statement; “David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote Training Day and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of longtime Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites: Margot, Jared, Jai and Car. We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”
