After it’s opening week success, Paramount quickly gave a sequel to this past summers “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot a green light, and a release date of June 3 2016. The film eventually brought in a total of $191,204,754 domestically. At foreign locations the film earned $286,000,000, for a worldwide total of 477,204,754. With those final results a sequel was obvious. No matter what the “critics” opinion of the film were, I really enjoyed it. In fact, next to Guardians of the Galaxy, it was the most fun I had at the movies this past summer. From what I understand, both Will Arnett and Megan Fox are scheduled to return for the sequel. Also returning to write the screenplay are Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec. New elements for the sequel, for one includes the director. Gone is Jonathan Liebesman and in his place is director David Green, who recently directed “Earth to Echo.” While I haven’t seen that film, I’ve heard nothing but good things, so I’ll definitely check it out. According to the producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, fan favourite villains Bebop and Rocksteady will be in the next film. “We designed and we did lots of work on all of them and then only so many fit in the box and luckily we have another chance to make another one of these movies and some of those characters that got cut out of the first one can make it into the second one.” The producers also indicate that the sequel begins filming in New York in April.
