The X-Files is without doubt one of the most popular science fiction television series of all time. Before people raved about David Duchovny in Californication or lauded Gillian Anderson in “The Fall”, they were known as Agents Mulder and Scully. For nine seasons, the duo investigated the strange and unexplained. The series spawned two movies and comic books. Still fans have lobbied for the duo to return in either another film or a return to TV. If everything goes according to plan, fans may just get their wish. “Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman today confirmed chatter that the network is in talks for a new installment of Chris Carter’s cult supernatural drama, which starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Newman went on to say he was “hopeful” about the outcome. Later, fellow Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden said that the conversations so far have been only logistical, looking at windows when the key X-Files players, creator Carter and stars Duchovny and Anderson, are available. She confirmed that a potential X-Files follow-up will star the original leading duo of Duchovny and Anderson. There have been no creative discussions yet about what that new series might be.” While this is clearly early days yet, the prospects for this potential revival are very intriguing. Here’s hoping we find out more news soon.
