Doctor Strange was one of the films announced for Marvel Studio’s Phase 3 of films. The Film will be directed by Scott Derrickson and star Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange. According to The Wrap,”Chiwetel Ejiofor is nearing a deal for a key role alongside his “12 Years a Slave” co-star Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange. While it’s unclear which role Ejiofor is circling, an individual with knowledge of the project insisted it’s not the villain, who is believed to be Baron Mordo, and is more likely the Ancient One.” The actor has an academy award nomination for his role in “12 Years A Slave.” “Doctor Strange” has a November 4, 2016 release date.
An Apocalypse is coming to the X-Men film franchise. No I’m not talking about Channing Tatum being cast as Gambit. Although in my opinion that is a terrible choice. I’m referring to X-Men: Apocalypse the next film in the franchise. Apocalypse is also the name of the titular villain, being played by Oscar Isaac. The last X-Men film, X-Men: Days of Future Past served as a sort of reset for the franchise, while acting as a swan song for some of the original X-Men trilogy cast members. Moving forward, the franchise will feature the core cast from X-Men: First Class. Of course, Hugh Jackman will remain as Wolverine, because the fans, the studio, and the actor aren’t quite ready to cut that cord yet. Three key X-Men will have to be recast. Those three being Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. Previously those roles had been played by James Marsden, Famke Janssen, and Halle Berry. Director Bryan Singer took to social media to announce their replacements. Tye Sheridan (Mud) will play Cyclops, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) will play Jean Grey, while Alexandra Shipp ( House of Anubis) is set to play Storm.
