A Hero Turns To Villainy As Milo Ventimiglia Joins GOTHAM + When Will We See The Joker?

By: Adam Basciano

Before comic book movies or television series were all the rage, Milo Ventimiglia starred as one of the main forces for good on the NBC series Heroes.  While it is unknown whether he’ll appear on that shows upcoming revival, he will be making his way on to Fox’s Batman prequel GOTHAM. “Ventimiglia will be playing an original character named Jason Lennon, who also goes by “the Ogre,” and is described as a serial killer who has been preying on the young women of Gotham for nearly a decade, luring them into his web and confronting them with a series of “tests” as he searches for his perfect mate. When the women fail to live up to his impossible standard, Lennon disposes of them quickly and viciously. Lennon’s obsessions, combined with Gordon’s determination to bring him down, send both Gordon and Lennon — and those around them — on a course toward tragedy.” GOTHAM has created several new villains on the series with varying degrees of success, so we’ll see where the Ogre falls on that scale.  Milo Ventimiglia is a solid actor, so he should provide the series with another crazy and complex baddie.

The Joker

GOTHAM has also introduced it’s fair share of established Bat Villains.  Penguin, Catwoman, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and most recently Scarecrow have made appearances. We’ve heard we’d get hints and glimpses at the future Joker, but it turns out we’ll see him sooner than expected. Creator and executive producer Bruno Heller told TV Guide; “We’ve said you’re going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America — nobody wants to wait,” Heller tells TVGuide.com with a laugh. “So, we will scratch the surface of that story, yes. But just scratch it — a little tap on the door.”  The series has done a great job in handling the established classic villains, so I’m confident they will do right by The Joker.
