2016 is packed with comic book superhero films. The first one out of the gate will be Fox’s X-Men spinoff “Deadpool”, starring Ryan Reynolds. The film is currently casting the other roles, presently looking for a female lead. The film is exactly 365 days away from release. and Ryan Reynolds has taken to social media to commemorate that. The actor posted a black and white photo of himself standing next to the Deadpool mask and gloves. It looks exactly like its comic book counterpart. Despite Reynolds joking that the actual colour is “ballerina pink”, surely it will be red and black.
Moving onto more sci-fi and fantasy subject matter, former wrestler turned Guardian of the Galaxy, Dave Bautista is turning heel for the “Highlander” reboot. “Bautista is going to play the bad ass barbarian role of THE KURGAN in Summit’s Highlander reboot for visual effects artist turned first time director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. The original Highlander, released back in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman who, after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, is forced to confront one final foe: the Kurgan, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the prize that comes with being the last immortal. The movie spawned numerous sequels and a tv-show.” At one time, Ryan Reynolds was set to star in the lead role, but a busy schedule prevents that. The film now looks to find a new immortal swordsman.
