In exactly two months time, Suicide Squad begins filming right here in Toronto. Before that can happen, the film needs to find its Rick Flagg. Warner Brothers and director David Ayer look to have done just that, and are turning to an actor with some heroic experience under his belt. “Joel Kinnaman is in early talks to step into the role vacated by Tom Hardy in Suicide Squad. Rick Flagg, the leader of the group that consists of Batman villains Deadshot (Smith), Joker (Leto) and Harley Quinn (Robbie), plus Boomerang (Courtney) and Enchantress Delevingne). Having seen the actor in Robocop, and several other films, he is definitely capable to play this type of role, and is a strong addition to an already phenomenal cast.
Another film also filming in Canada, specifically Vancouver around that time, is Deadpool. Recently we got a glimpse of the costume, and now the film has cast an antagonist and an ally for the Merc With A Mouth. “Carano will play a character known as Angel Dust. It is unclear how she fits into the proceedings, but in the Marvel comics, the character was part of an underground mutant group known as The Morlocks. T.J. Miller is set to bring comedic relief to the movie in an undisclosed role. And, fanboy alert: The Russian X-Men character known as Colossus is slated to appear in the movie.” I’m pretty new to reading Deadpool, so I’m not very familiar with The Morlocks. However, having seen Gina Carano in “Haywire” and “Furious 6” when put in a certain kind of role, she can perform quite well in a film.
