The last bit of news we heard regarding the He-Man & The Masters of the Universe franchise came from a social media post from the Senior Vice President of Production at Columbia Pictures, Devon Franklin. Early in the new year, he posted an image of the script, which had just been turned into the studio. The executive is at it again, this time posting what appears to be the logo/ title card from the film. The posting comes with the following message; “We’ll know more next week.” As for what exactly we’ll know, we have to wait and see. “No word on who might direct Masters of the Universe so maybe that’s the news coming later this week. Jon M. Chu was once set for the chair, but departed for another toy-centric project, Jem and the Holograms. It’s possible that Jeff Wadlow, the director of Kick-Ass 2 and an upcoming X-Force movie for 20th Century Fox, and who wrote the screenplay, could end up directing. There’s also been some chatter about Mike Cahill (I Origins) for the job.” After a decade of talk, it seems things are finally moving forward for the franchise.
