X2: X-Men United still remains one of my top 10 favourite superhero films of all time. A contributing reason for that is the character of Nightcrawler, portrayed by Alan Cummings. One of the few disappointments I’ve had with the X-Men franchise since that film, is the lack of appearance by that character since that film. That is set to change in 2016, with X-Men: Apocalypse. Director Bryan Singer took to social media to announce that he is; ” Excited to welcome Kodi Smit- McPhee to the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse as young Nightcrawler.” The actor was recently seen in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”
Sticking with the X-Men franchise, it was recently revealed that the character of Colossus would appear in the “Deadpool” spinoff film starring Ryan Reynolds. Everyone naturally assumed that Daniel Cudmore would reprise the role he inhabited in previous films. According to the actor himself, that is not the case. ” Thanks everyone for all the support for me to reprise the role of Colossus in Deadpool but unfortunately it won’t be happening for me.” While I was fine with the actors portrayal in the role, I don’t really have a strong opinion on this, as the actor and character were so underused in his film appearances.
