One of the things I love about The Flash, is that in honours the past live action incarnation of the character by bringing former alumni John Wesley Shipp and Amanda Pays back on the new show! It seems CBS is employing the same strategy as well, by bringing back to former portrayer’s of the Kryptonian cousins on their Supergirl tv series. “Dean Cain, who played Superman in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the 1984 film Supergirl, have joined the cast of the CBS/Warner Bros. pilot. Details about the roles they’ll be playing are being kept under wraps.” If I had to guess, I could see Dean Cain playing Zor-El, Supergirl’s father along with Laura Benanti playing her mother. That would leave former Supergirl, Helen Slater to play her Aunt Lara. Or both Dean Cain and Helen Slater could be playing Jor-El and Lara, parents to Kara’s baby cousin Kal-El, aka the future Superman. Whoever they play, I’m just thrilled they are involved with the project.
