As of this writing, in one month the David Ayer directed film “Suicide Squad” will be filming right here in Toronto. You’d think the main cast and characters would be all locked in. Well according to Cinema Blend and Latino Review, the film is set to add one more team member, none other than Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke. While actor Manu Bennett has played the role wonderfully on television in “Arrow”, who will play the big screen version of the character? “A source close to the production tells us that Magic Mike co-star Joe Manganiello has all but locked up the part of Deathstroke in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. The deal isn’t done yet.” Latino Review adds that the actor had a scheduling conflict with another film, but has since dropped out of that other film to accommodate. Regarding his look in the film; “His suit is very stealth oriented. They used an actual US military tactical outfit for the basis. He’s armed to the teeth, uses a sword and automatics. In concept artwork he has two eyes. The mask is there and it’s the iconic one.” Joe Manganiello has been mentioned in the superhero film conversation for quite some time. He was a runner-up for Superman to Henry Cavill. His role in “True Blood”prevented him from advancing in the screen test phase. He was also mentioned in conjunction for the role of Batman, before it ultimately went to Ben Affleck. While the actor would have done well in both roles, I believe Deathstroke is a role that suits him perfectly.
