The Crow Reboot Finds Its Ill Fated Lovers + Star Wars Spinoff Goes Rogue!

By: Adam Basciano

Shelly & Eric

All signs are pointing to the fact that “The Crow” reboot is actually going to take flight this time around. This is solidified by the fact that the film has found the actors to portray the ill-fated lovers at the center of the films story. “During a Q&A panel a the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention, The Crow creator James O’Barr not only confirmed that Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, American Hustle, Shrooms) would don the black and white face-paint as Eric Draven in Corin Hardy’s remake, but that he’d be joined by Jessica Brown Findlay (A Winter’s Tale, The Riot Club, Downton Abbey) as his doomed fiancée, Shelly Webster.” I am not familiar with either of these actors filmography, though it is probably better that they are more unknown quantities. Especially for the role of The Crow. Getting a big name star in the lead, would make it difficult to separate the actor from the character he is playing.

Star Wars Rogue One

Meanwhile, while Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still 9 months away, word has arrived regarding the next Episode and the first spinoff film. “Rogue One is the title for the first film in a unique series of big-screen adventures that explores the characters and events beyond the core Star Wars saga. Rogue One will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) and written by Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About a Boy, Antz). The first actress cast is Felicity Jones, who garnered an Academy Award nomination and critical acclaim for her performance in The Theory of Everything. The film starts shooting this summer in London and is due for release on December 16, 2016. In addition, Iger confirmed that Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. The film, which continues the saga after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is set for release on May 26, 2017.” An extremely talented actress has joined the first Star Wars spinoff. Add to that another exceptional filmmaker helming Episode VIII, & both being released within five months of each other….Geekgasm achieved.
