Baxter Stockman

This week at Cinema Con it was confirmed that fan favourite mutant baddies Bebop and Rocksteady would be joining Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. While there is no word on who is playing them. However, we do have an actor filling the role another longstanding character from the TMNT mythos. “is set to join the cast of Paramount and Michael Bay’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2,” in which he’ll play scientist Baxter Stockman. In previous iterations of the franchise, Stockman was responsible for the creation of the Mousers, machines meant to seek out and destroy sewer rats. The villainous Shredder learns of this invention and hires Stockman as his own scientist with the intent of using the Mousers to destroy Splinter, mentor to the Turtles.” More known for his comedic work, Tyler Perry has also featured in Star Trek (2009), Alex Cross, and most recently in Gone Girl. The mix of comedy, action and drama exoerience, should serve him well on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Common

Meanwhile, “Oscar-winning rapper-turned-actor Common has closed a deal to join the cast of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros.’ all-star action movie featuring DC Entertainment super-villains.” Of course, Common was scheduled to play John Stewart/ Green Lantern in the aborted Justice League: Mortal film back in 2007. Is the actor once again signed onto play that role in this new DC Cinematic Universe, or is it more likely that he will play Black Manta or Bronze Tiger? We’ll have to wait and see, but any of these three characters is a distinct possibility. Common is one of the few rappers who made a successful transition from rapping to acting, so a performer of his caliber is always welcome in the DC Cinematic Universe. With Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Common on board, one thing is certain about Suicide Squad…It’s going to have a killer soundtrack!
